OUR STORY
When Mike Morrisson opened the Coast Watcher Gym at Trinity Beach in 1985, Jane Fonda was the exercise Guru and Arnold Schwarzenegger dominated the pages of bodybuilding magazines.
Thankfully the gym game and Trinity Beach have come a long way since then! Gyms were a young scene in the 80s. Now we have an age spectrum that runs from kids in their teens... to kids in their 70+s.
Thousands have since called Coast Fitness “their gym”, including former Wallabies, AFL teams, and world champion triathletes. From the super fit to those just starting out, the culture at Coast Fitness embraces everybody on their unique fitness journey.

Like a lot of Aussie kids playing sport (Rugby, Cricket, Martial Arts, Boxing, Weightlifting) was a big part of my life and fitness seemed to come easy until I reached my late twenties when I realised that the older I got the more I had to work at it.
This has influenced my outlook on developing our fitness centre as a facility that caters for all ages and all levels from the beginner to the dedicated athlete.
While our trainers do most of the hands on work with clients these days I still enjoy training and introducing clients to the possibilities and potentials that come from healthy lifestyles and functional fitness.

Amanda oates - personal trainer and group fitness instructor
My background has predominantly been in the health care sector as a Nurse Support Worker/Massage Therapist for over 20 yrs, specialising in cancer and palliative care. My personal fitness journey has included competing in Crossfit competitions, half marathons and Boxing fitness.
I have always had a passion for fitness and love to inspire others on their fitness journey, whether just starting out or slowly getting back into it. After being diagnosed with a severe neck condition, I was determined it would not stop me and found that exercise helped with chronic pain. I learnt to adapt specific movements and change my routines.
My holistic approach to personal training provides a tailor-made program for individual specific needs. I love helping people with weight loss, training around old injuries/recovery from illness, fitness through menopause and fitness in older age.
I also teach Cardio Boxing, Circuit & Strength and Conditioning classes.
